Family bowling night in Chattanooga
Sometimes you just need a low-stakes family night, and bowling is undefeated for that. Chattanooga has a few good alleys, and they’re cheap entertainment that works for every age.
Where to go
Holiday Bowl on Brainerd Road is the classic — big, well-kept, cosmic bowling on weekend nights. Spare Time in the area runs the same playbook with arcade games attached. Most alleys do bumpers and ramps for little kids, so even a four-year-old can play a real game.
How to do it right
Weekday afternoons are the cheapest — many alleys run discount specials before 5pm. Shoe rental is a few bucks on top of the per-game price. Two games is the sweet spot for kids; adults can go three before the novelty wears off. Call ahead for lane reservations on Friday and Saturday nights.
Local tips
- Cosmic bowling (black lights, loud music) is Friday/Saturday nights — great for teens, terrible for toddlers.
- Most alleys have a snack bar with the full fried-food experience. Embrace it.
- It’s the best rainy-day backup plan in town. Keep it in your pocket.
